The upcoming superhero comedy Hi.5, directed by Kang Hyoung-chul, has officially announced its June release with the unveiling of its launch poster on April 21.

The film follows five strangers who gain different superpowers after undergoing organ transplants. Yoo Ah-in, Lee Jae-in, Ahn Jae-hong, Ra Mi-ran, and Kim Hee-won play the unlikely team of superhumans caught in a clash with those who seek to exploit their abilities.

Notably, Hi.5 marks Yoo Ah-in’s second appearance on the big screen following his drug scandal, after The Match, which was released in March. In the new film, Yoo portrays an unemployed hipster who gains electricity-based powers after receiving a cornea transplant.

Although his silhouette is featured prominently alongside the other cast members in the official poster, Yoo’s name was excluded from the press release introducing the main cast. This follows a similar pattern from The Match, where Yoo was absent from trailers and promotional material. At the time, director Kim Hyung-joo explained the decision was made to avoid unnecessary controversy since trailers reach a wide audience.

However, in contrast to The Match, Hi.5 retains Yoo’s presence in visual promotions—likely due to the significance of the number “5” in the film’s title. Despite this, Yoo is still not expected to participate in any promotional activities for Hi.5.

Yoo remains on trial for illegal drug use. After receiving a suspended sentence of one year in prison and a ₩2 million fine in his second trial, he was released from custody in February. However, the prosecution has filed an appeal, and the case is now awaiting a final verdict from the Supreme Court.
