The movie ‘Wonka’ starring Timothee Chalamet is showing enormous popularity. ‘Wonka’ was released in Korea on January 31. Even before its release, Wonka boosted its popularity by ranking first in advance sales. The number of advance tickets was over 160,000.

‘Wonka’ is a fantasy musical film that tells the past story of chocolate factory manager Willy Wonka, a character in Roald Dahl’s novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. It has already proven its popularity by taking first place in the North American box office and grossing over hundreds of millions of dollars before its release in Korea.

Currently, the cumulative number of audiences for ‘Wonka’ in Korea is approaching 2 million, and during this Lunar New Year holiday alone, it attracted 780,000 audiences to theaters, showing an incredible box office success rate.

The fact that Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet plays the main character Wonka is also an essential reason why Wonka has become such a hit. American actor Timothee Chalamet is also well-known in Korea for his masterpieces such as 'Dune', 'Little Women', and 'A Rainy Day in New York'. Additionally, as proof of his popularity, ‘Dune Part 2’, another film starring Timothée Chalamet, is also ranked first in reservation rates two weeks ahead of its release.
