On the 21st, North Korea launched the 'Malli-kyung-1' missile. A military reconnaissance satellite is a satellite using high-resolution camera equipment that can orbit and spy on military bases, equipment, and the movements of other countries.

North Korea said Malli-kyung 1 was successfully positioned in orbit and filmed major military bases in South Korea, as well as those in Hawaii and Guam in the United States. However, it is said that it is a real success only when communicating with the ground and checking the resolution of photographs that can be militarily used.

In response to this, South Korea decided to resume activities to monitor and spy on North Korea's provocative movements by flying a plane near the armistice line. On the 30th, Korea will launch its first military reconnaissance satellite in Vandenburg, California. If it goes as planned, South Korea will be able to photograph North Korea's military facilities every two hours with a total of five military satellites. The space competition between the two Koreas for spy satellites has begun in earnest.

Following the electrification of the electro-optical satellite monitoring system, the South Korean military aims to secure satellite power and perform space operations. Using these, the ability to collect intelligence such as ground and sea intelligence is doubled, allowing them to capture enemy nuclear, missile, and mobile launch vehicle (TEL) targets and to grasp changes in troop and equipment movements and key bases in real-time.
