The IOC executive committee declared on Tuesday that athletes from Belarus and Russia will not be present at the first ceremony along the river, the opening ceremony of Paris 2024, which is set for July 26.

The IOC's director of Olympic Solidarity and relations with the National Olympic Committee, James McLeod, stated: "As individual athletes, neutral athletes will not march with the delegation during the opening ceremony. He stated at a Lausanne, Switzerland, news conference.

Russian and Belarusian athletes who invaded Ukraine were allowed to participate in the Olympics only as individuals with neutral status. The IOC said, "The closing ceremony will be decided later in consideration of the fact that all athletes, not the team, will enter together," leaving room for participation in the closing ceremony. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) banned athletes from the two countries from marching in the opening ceremony before the IOC. The IOC said 12 Russian athletes and 7 Belarusian athletes have qualified for the Olympics as individual neutrality. #Russian #Belarusian #Olympic #globalposts #영자신문
