On the 25th, it was reported by the Seocho Police that famous actress Kim Soo-mi had passed away. She suffered cardiac arrest around 8 a.m. and was taken to a hospital but could not be revived.
Her son revealed that Kim’s final cause of death was a “hyperglycemic shock.” Reportedly, her blood sugar level had exceeded 500. He added that she had been under stress due to not receiving payment for her musical performance.
Her health did not seem to have deteriorated suddenly. In May of this year, she suspended activities due to “accumulated fatigue.” Additionally, her recent appearance on a shopping channel led to public concern, as she appeared visibly unwell.
Kim Soo-mi debuted in the entertainment industry in 1971. She gained widespread recognition for her 22-year role in Country Diaries from 1980 to 2002. Throughout her career, she appeared in numerous films, variety shows, and musicals, earning a place in the hearts of the Korean public with her straightforward communication style and exceptional cooking skills.
Many are mourning the loss of Kim Soo-mi. Her funeral has been set up at Hanyang University Hospital in Seoul. Many famous individuals, including actors, broadcasters, comedians, and politicians, have come to bid her a final farewell.
