Major aspects of how we process the world include perception and sensation. Sensation and perception are the gateways to how we view the world through our five senses.

While the sensation is something we detect, perception is how our brain organizes and interprets the information given by sensation. The processes of perception allow us to recognize the codes gained through sensation.

What converts sensation to perception is the three-step process of our sensory systems: the reception, transformation, and delivery of sensory information to the brain. We use absolute and difference thresholds to measure the influence and strength of stimuli.

We are also affected by sensory adaptation in our tendencies to draw out focus on constant stimuli. The process of transduction and the types of thresholds, along with the properties of sensory adaptation, are relevant to the connections made in psychophysics. All in all, these processes are the major properties of how we take in sensation and perception.
