Park Ji-won and Hwang Dae-heon, who have clashed three times this season alone and have been embroiled in a "team kill" controversy, will perform on the national team selection stage side by side. The Korea Skating Union will hold the first national short track competition for the 2024–25 season at the Mokdong Indoor Ice Rink from the 5th to the 7th. The second competition will begin from the 11th to the 12th.

The two athletes made headlines when they collided for two consecutive days at the 2024 ISU Short Track World Championships held at Ahoy Arena in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. On March 17, Park Ji-won and Hwang Dae-heon collided in the men's 1,500-meter final, and Park Ji-won finished the race at the bottom. Hwang finished the race in first place but was found guilty of a penalty.

The two skaters also clashed in the men's 1,000-meter final held the next day. Park, who was leading at the time, was in shock after falling and eventually gave up the race. Hwang was given a penalty and eventually disqualified from the medal.

If Park had won a gold medal at the World Championships, he could have been automatically selected as a member of the national team for the next season. However, he failed to win a medal due to two collisions and has to pass the national team selection contest to carry the national flag again next season. #Korea #Short #Track #Team #Kill #globalposts #영자신문
