On October 16, Texas easily won Game 1 of the ALCS held at Houston's Minute Maid Park thanks to Montgomery's good pitching. Texas Jordan Montgomery, who started Game 1, gets off to a clean start in the first three innings.
However, Montgomery seemed to be shaken as Houston opened the bases with three consecutive hits after two outs in the fourth inning. He gets out of trouble by cleanly striking out Maldonado.
After that, he continued to pitch well, ending 6 innings without allowing a run. The opposing pitcher, Justin Verlander, also showed a good performance, allowing 2 runs in 6 2/3 innings.
He was very shaken in the top of the second inning and almost gave up a large number of runs, but he prevented one run and gave up a total of two runs in the fifth inning when he hit a solo home run by Willy Taveras.
However, they unfortunately suffered a silent loss to the Houston batting lineup.
