On August 30, the Korean Netflix original series 'Mask Girl' claimed the top spot in the weekly viewing charts for non-English language TV shows on Netflix. This achievement comes just about a week after the release of its first episode on August 18th.
According to the "Netflix Top 10" rankings for August 30th, 'Mask Girl' secured the first position with a total of 7.4 million views between August 21st and August 27th. The view count on Netflix's official site, "Netflix Top 10," is calculated by dividing the total time spent watching a movie or TV series by its running time.
'Mask Girl' tells the story of an office worker who is insecure about her looks becomes a masked internet personality by night until a chain of ill-fated events overtakes her life.
This series is based on the webtoon of the same name by Mae-mi and Hee-se and was adapted into a drama by director Kim Yong-hoon. The main roles are portrayed by Lee Han-byeol, Nana, Go Hyun-jung, Ahn Jae-hong, and Yeom Hye-ran. The genres include black comedy, crime, and thriller.
