On the 18th (KST), Manchester United secured a 4-3 victory in an epic overtime battle against Liverpool in the '2023-2024 FA Cup' quarter-final held at Old Trafford in Manchester, UK.
In the first half, Manchester United exerted strong pressure and created opportunities, dictating the flow of the game. Eventually, around the 10th minute of the first half, although the goalkeeper saved Garnecho's shot, McTominay successfully scored from the second ball, securing the opening goal. Throughout the first half, Manchester United maintained intense pressure and continued to play well. However, from around the 40th minute, a defensive problem annoyed Manchester United, allowing Mac Allister to score from the penalty box and equalize. Then, in the 47th minute, Manchester United suffered a turnaround as Salah scored a goal surprisingly from the defensive zone.
In the second half, Manchester United attempted numerous attacks but most of them failed toscore. Liverpool dominated the flow of the second half, creating good opportunities but unable to capitalize on them. Then, in the 87th minute, substitute Antony dramatically equalized with a skillful shot. With no decisive outcome in the regulation 90 minutes, the match headed into extra time.
In the first half of extra time, Manchester United aggressively attacked, but Elliot's deflected shot in the 105th minute gave Liverpool the lead. In the second half of extra time, United persisted in their attacking endeavors, and Rashford's 112th-minute goal leveled the score. Then, in the final moments of extra time, Diallo scored on a counterattack, sealing the dramatic 4-3 comeback win.
