In the first Group E match of the 2023 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Qatar Asian Cup, held on the 15th at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar, the Korean national football team, led by coach Jurgen Klinsmann, defeated Bahrain 3-1.
The Korean national team took the lead thanks to a goal from Hwang In-beom in the 38th minute of the first half. But, Al Hashash's goal in the 6th minute of the second half tied the game at one. However, Kim Min-jae's feed to Lee Kang-in in the eleventh minute of the second half made the score 2-1. The game ended 3-1 after Lee Kang-in scored again in the 23rd minute of the second half after receiving a ball from Hwang In-beom.
Korea seized the lead in Group E with three points after winning their opening Asian Cup match. They kept winning the opening round of the group stage of the Asian Cup, doing so for four straight games.
After winning the inaugural Asian Cup in 1956 and the second Asian Cup in 1960, the Korean national team has not won a championship in 64 years. With Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in, and Kim Min-jae representing them, the Korean national team—which is regarded as the best team ever—is hoping to win this competition. Even with their September 2018 evaluation match against Saudi Arabia, Klismanho has won seven straight international games.
