Kim Gil soo, who escaped while receiving hospital treatment on November 4, was arrested on the evening of the 6th and transferred to the Seoul Detention Center at 4 a.m. on the 7th. He was reportedly apprehended by the police while making a call to his lover from a public phone in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do.
In September, Kim Gil-soo, 35, stole a bag containing 740 million KRW in cash and fled. He was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery on November 2. After advertising that he would exchange currency at a lower rate than the bank, he met the victim, used self-defense spray, and forcibly took the bag.
While in detention, Kim Gil-soo swallowed a 5-cm-long plastic spoon handle. He refused to have it removed, and after being transferred to a Seoul detention center, he was taken to the hospital due to complaints of abdominal pain. Two days later, he escaped while surveillance was relaxed.
He evaded authorities for approximately 70 hours, traveling between northern Gyeonggi-do and Seoul, with financial support from his girlfriend and younger brother. After his arrest, he stated that the escape was not premeditated and that he had no accomplices.
This was not his first brush with the law. He has a history of criminal convictions, including fraud in 2007, hit-and-run and driving without a license in 2008, attempted aggravated robbery in 2009, rape with aggravated robbery in 2011, and assault in 2021.
