While the World Health Organization, WHO, has confirmed aspartame as a carcinogenic substance, a substance that is capable of causing cancer, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea officially stated there are no safety problems with aspartame.

Aspartame is an artificial low-calorie sweetener that is 200 times sweeter than table sugar. Since it can produce sweetness in a small amount, it is used everywhere including bread, juice, and snacks these days.

However, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of the Republic of Korea stated that it is difficult for a person to exceed the recommended amount. Also, having too much is indeed harmful, but there needs to be more research done on whether it can lead to cancer.
