Studies have shown that primary genes have a significant influence on the expression of cannabis symptoms. It can occur regardless of genetic differences according to race. A research team led by Professor Joel Gelemter at Yale University Medical School in the U.S. analyzed the DNA data of more than 100 Americans with different genetic ancestors in a broad sense and found genetic factors vulnerable to cannabis addiction.
According to this research, there is a natural gene that causes drug addiction. It is also related to schizophrenia. As a result, significant single-base polymorphism (SNP) was observed in all ethnic genes except those of East Asian descent, where the number of aggregated genetic data was the lowest. Single-base polymorphism is a part of the DNA sequence that can cause individuals to have different traits or cause genetic diseases. Meanwhile, the most common data for which these SNPs were found were genes with European ancestry.
