Today (December 2), CUBE Entertainment officially announced that all five members of the K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE have renewed their contracts with the company.
(G)I-DLE, who debuted in early 2018, was approaching the end of their seven-year contracts as 2024 came to a close. Leader Jeon Soyeon, who debuted slightly earlier in November 2017, saw her contract expire last month. In November, rumors of Jeon Soyeon failing to renew her contract caused speculation about the group’s uncertain future. Many people criticized CUBE Entertainment’s treatment of (G)I-DLE over the years, with most assuming that the likelihood of contract renewal was slim.
However, defying all rumors and speculation, (G)I-DLE themselves revealed on November 30 that all five members had successfully renewed their contracts with CUBE Entertainment and would continue as a group. This announcement came as a surprise during the 2024 Melon Music Awards (MMA 2024), where the group received the ceremony’s first Daesang (Grand Prize) for "Record of the Year." The news added to the emotional impact for fans, making the moment even more special.
CUBE Entertainment expressed gratitude to (G)I-DLE for their decision in their statement announcing the renewal. Meanwhile, the group’s members took to their personal social media accounts to share their affection for one another and to express excitement for their future together.
