Five buses collided simultaneously in the bus lane near Suwon Interchange on the Gyeongbu Expressway toward Busan on November 3 at around 7:30 a.m. This collision injured dozens of people.
Fortunately, no fatalities occurred; however, 62 people suffered minor injuries and 3 persons suffered serious injuries. One of the three people who were injured was the driver of the last bus among the five buses involved in the accident and was taken to the hospital right away.
According to the police, it is believed that the bus in front was unable to slow down in a congested section on the bus-only road, so the car behind it hit the car in front. He said he was investigating for accurate information.
Three of the five lanes were closed for 2 hours as a result of the accident, which resulted in heavy traffic congestion. The Gyeongbu Expressway is the first highway in Korea and runs from Seoul to Busan.
