The match between England and Macedonia took place today, the 21st, and many people were expecting an easy win for England, as they are the top team in their group and have many of the world's most famous players, and Macedonia is the 66th ranked team with a weaker squad, but the result was quite the opposite.
England began to give Macedonia a lot of chances in the first half, before conceding a penalty kick in the 41st minute. Enis Bardhi stepped up to take the spot kick, and although Pickford blocked his shot, he stepped up and scored, sending Macedonia into halftime with a one-goal lead. However, the tide of the game didn't change in the second half, so England made a change to their attack by bringing on Kane.
With Kane on, England's offense started to come alive, and they kept it going until the 14th minute of the second half, when Kane's header hit Jani Atanasov and led to an own goal, making it 1-1. From there, England pushed forward, but the game ended 1-1 with no further goals. It was a game that destroyed the notion that the better team would win.
