On the 25th, writers from various fields, including poetry, fiction, and literary criticism, issued a statement demanding the immediate removal of President Yoon Suk-yeol. The statement was endorsed by 414 writers, including Han Kang, the Nobel Prize-winning author.

In their joint declaration, they stated, “For over 100 days since the declaration of martial law, South Korea’s democracy has been in crisis. President Yoon’s removal must not be delayed any further—there is no other option.”

Meanwhile, the Korean Bar Association has urged the Constitutional Court to deliver a prompt ruling on Yoon’s impeachment trial.

On the 28th, the association released a statement warning that the prolonged delay in the court’s decision is worsening social unrest. “The longer this uncertainty drags on, the greater the instability in our society,” the statement read. It also emphasized that “the Constitutional Court’s ruling must be based solely on a strict and impartial interpretation of the Constitution and the law.”

It has now been a month since the final hearing on February 25, yet the court has remained silent. The eight justices continue deliberating among three possible outcomes: acceptance, dismissal, or rejection of the impeachment case. As the court continues to postpone its decision, public anxiety is growing. The Constitutional Court must deliver a prompt and lawful ruling to restore stability and uphold the rule of law.
