23-year-old infielder Bae Young-bin was given a one-year suspension and 80 hours of community service after being found driving while intoxicated and even concealing it from authorities.

On March 23, the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) convened a rewards and punishment committee, during which Bae Young-bin was the subject of disciplinary action. When Bae Young-bin was found driving under the influence on the 23rd of last month, KBO noted, "he caused a social uproar and damaged the dignity of the league by not reporting it to his club or KBO." KBO clarified that it applied 80 hours of community service for non-reporting and imposed a one-year disqualification for driving while intoxicated.

After drinking somewhere in Seoul on the 23rd of last month, Bae Young-bin called a designated driver and pulled the car out of an alley. He was apprehended by the police and had his license revoked. His team, the Lotte Giants, learned of this late on the 11th through a source other than the player himself. They reported it to the KBO Clean Baseball Center right away, and on the 16th, Bae Young-bin was released.
