After going through a terrible "emergency exit door" incident on 26 May 2023, Asiana Airlines banned the occupation of the exit rows for the same kind of airplanes that the incident occurred.

Asiana Airlines, a pre-eminence Korean airline, had served more than thirty-five years in the air but had not seen such a terrible incident. On the Asiana Airlines OZ8124 flight bound for Jeju International Airport, the emergency exit door was opened two-hundred meters above the ground.

According to Asiana Airlines, a thirty-three-year-old male sitting in the exit row opened the emergency exit door. Passengers were panicking leading the flight into turmoil. Some passengers had to use the emergency medical service due to serious condition issues caused by the difference in air pressure.

Right after the flight landed, the thirty-three-year-old male was arrested by the Korean police. While the motivation for such transgression is still unknown, Asiana Airlines had officially announced that starting today(29th) they will ban exit rows for the same kind of airplanes that the incident occurred.

Asiana Airlines have added that such a decision was made to ensure the safety of the passengers in the future. Many aviation experts and lawyers predicted that the compensation for the damages will be over one billion Korean Won(755,458 USD).

Despite the predictions, Asiana Airlines Officials said, "Since the police investigation is still underway, it is difficult to tell you our position on the claim for damages at the moment. We are watching with all possibilities open."
