The world's first four-legged robot, Leibo2, has completed a marathon. It navigated forks in the road, climbed hills, and completed the 42.195 kilometers in 4 hours, 19 minutes, and 52 seconds, making it the longest distance run by any animal, and the first robot to do so.

The robot was developed by Professor Hwang's research team at KAIST. “Walking robots can overcome a variety of environments so that they can be used for patrol or delivery missions in disaster areas or mountainous environments better than wheeled robots,” said Dr. Chungin Lee of KAIST's Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Robot dogs are already being utilized ahead of humanoids, human-looking robot. Hyundai Motor's robotics company Boston Dynamics has already deployed robot dogs to guard President-elect Trump's residence, military robot dogs are also being or expected to be deployed in China and South Korea.
