Yeonghun (Harry) Song
Kim Sae-ron, born 31st July 2000 in Seoul, South Korea, is a child actress who joined the professional ranks at the age of nine. She came onto the international stage with her performances in A Brand New Life (2009) and The Man from Nowhere (2010). Her role in the second of these films earned her a Best New Actress nomination at the 47th Baeksang Arts Awards.
During her career, Kim demonstrated her worth as a talented television drama actress in series such as Listen to My Heart (2011), Queen's Classroom (2013), and Hi! School: Love On (2014). She pushed herself even further with challenging performances, such as in A Girl at My Door (2014) movie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
In May 2022, Kim's professional as well as personal life took a blow after a drunk-driving accident in the Gangnam District of Seoul. It attracted damages as well as criticism from the public, which ultimately ended in legal troubles as well as a hiatus from her professional work.
Sadly, on 16th February 2025, Kim Sae-ron died at her Seoul residence. Her death was ruled as a suicide.
Her death has prompted questions about the immense pressures South Korean celebrities live under, from the constant spotlight to online harassment. Her journey, with early success but also tremendous struggles, is a tragic reminder of the need for mental health support as well as greater kindness from the entertainment world.
